The Just Transition Fund is making a vital contribution to ensuring no one is left behind on the EU’s path to climate neutrality. In light of the ongoing evaluation of the Cohesion Policy, the upcoming review of the Just Transition Fund, and the forthcoming preparation of the Multiannual Financial Framework 2028-2034, the coalition of civil society organisations urge EU decision makers to ensure the fund’s continuation.
Based on the experience of two years of Just Transition Fund’s implementation, this joint statement lays out why this fund should be extended into the next EU budget, and offers recommendations to guide further improvements within the next programming period to deliver results that contribute to both EU cohesion and climate neutrality.
